Completed 1993 to present |
| DESCRIBE
ARTIFACT |
|
Since graduation from UW-Stevens Point in May of 1993, I have
accumulated 55 additional post-graduate credits from various
universities. A majority of these classes focus on understanding
how children learn as well as understanding how the students'
physical, social, emotional, moral, and cognitive development
influence learning.

Teacher Standard Alignment |
|
|
This
artifact primarily addresses Standard 2: Development. The
classes I have taken since graduation have assisting in broadening
my knowledge of how to provide instruction that supports the
intellectual, social, and personal development of my students.
This
artifact secondarily addresses Standard 1: Content; Standard
3: Diversity; Standard 4: Strategies; and Standard 9: Reflection.
Within the context of instructional practices taught within
the classes, I have developed a variety of skills to successfully
address all of these different areas. |

Alignment |
|
|
I
believe this artifacts best aligns with KSD4e. Grows and Develops
Professionally. I believe this is the primary KSD addressed,
because the process of continuing my education beyond my initial
certification in 1993 demonstrates continually academic growth.
This
alignment secondarily addresses the following KDS Standards:
1. KSD1a. Demonstrates Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy
2. KSD1b. Demonstrates Knowledge of Students
3. KSD1c. Selects Instructional Goals
4. KSD1d. Demonstrates Knowledge of Resources
5. KSD1e. Designs Coherent Instruction
6. KSD1f. Assesses Student Learning
7. KSD4f. Shows Professionalism |

What
I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: |
|
|
I learned from this experience that, although
experience provides the greatest environment for learning
how to deal with children, higher level education courses
also offer the teacher exposure to a wide variety of strategies
and ever changing subject-related content. |
|
|
|
|
What
I learned about myself as an educator as a result of
this experience/artifact: |
|
|
I have learned how to balance
work, school, and family. During the times when I had to take
classes for certification, I found I became more organized in
all areas in order to keep everything running smoothly. I've
come to understand the cliche that "if you want something
done, give it to a busy person." |
